A tribute to Norwegian seafarers

Dyre Vaa’s Seafarers’ Monument was unveiled on 7 June 1950. It honours Norwegian seafarers from the Viking Age to the twentieth century. Twelve bronze figures and reliefs depict different periods in maritime history.

The associations and band gather here after the Minebøssen ceremony, connecting Constitution Day with seafarers’ work and Bergen’s maritime traditions.
