PLAN YOUR VISIT
Constitution Day should be a celebration for everyone. Find information about accessible procession viewing areas, grandstands for older visitors and planning your journey to the city centre.
The Committee’s grandstands for older visitors at Torgallmenningen are intended for those who cannot stand for long periods. Ticket arrangements and access for 2027 will be confirmed later. These grandstands are separate from the dedicated accessible procession viewing area.
Read about the grandstands →In previous years, the 17 May Committee reserved a viewing area along the procession route for people with accessibility needs, together with their families and companions. The entire marked area was reserved for this purpose, allowing more people to enjoy the processions from a suitable location.

Under the arrangements on the previous website, spectators had to arrive before the processions started. After that, access to the reserved area was closed. The previous information also stated that vehicle access to the city centre was unavailable after 07:00.
If you need information about wheelchair access or other mobility aids, or wish to clarify arrangements before your visit, contact the Committee in advance.

Large crowds gather during the processions. Streets may be closed, and some routes can be difficult with a wheelchair, pushchair or other mobility aid. Allow plenty of time and check the programme and map before leaving.
Skyss publishes information about accessibility, stops and altered routes. In 2026, the city centre was closed to public transport from 07:00 to 15:00. Arrangements for 2027 will be confirmed later.
Bergen municipality’s toilet directory includes accessible toilets, baby-changing facilities and opening hours. We will add facilities near the event areas once their locations are confirmed.
Contact the Committee in advance if you need information about a particular event. On the day, you can ask stewards and organisers for directions.
