Those who protected civilians

The ceremony honours Civil Defence personnel who died. The monument’s history is linked to civilian air defence during the Second World War and the losses in the bombing of Laksevåg on 4 October 1944.

Historical photographs from 4 October 1947 show a ceremony at the monument. Its inscription remembers fallen civilian air-defence personnel from Bergen’s air-defence district in 1940–1945.

Remembrance and preparedness

The ceremony recalls the people who worked to protect civilians during the war. Today, Civil Defence supports emergency services during major incidents. Wreath laying connects their historical service with care, preparedness and civilian protection.

The wreath layer and precise assembly point will be announced when confirmed.
