Remembering the victims of the occupation
During the Second World War, the German security police had their regional headquarters at Veiten 3. The building became known as Gestapohuset and the house of terror. Prisoners were held here and subjected to violent interrogation and torture.
The memorial outside was erected in 1990. Wreath laying honours those persecuted by the occupying forces and reminds us of the importance of freedom, human dignity and the rule of law. The Gestapo Museum inside tells this history.
