“Once again the day has dawned!”

Bergen’s Constitution Day begins in Dreggen beside Mariakirken at 06:45. The Chairman of the 17 May Committee, Asbjørn Hodnekvam, opens the day with the late John Lund’s words: “Once again the day has dawned!” He welcomes the people of Bergen to celebrate Constitution Day in their own distinctive way.

Nine cheers for Constitution Day

We join in nine cheers for 17 May — three times three hurrahs! Lungegaardens Musikkorps and Krohnengen Brass Band play “Festmarsj til 17. mai-komiteen i Bergen”.

The salute and the Morning Procession

At 07:00, we sing “Ja, vi elsker” as the Skansen gun salute sounds. The Morning Procession then sets off to Bergen’s city anthem, “Nystemten”.

Come to Dreggen beside Mariakirken and join a memorable start to Constitution Day in Bergen.
