Stallholders must follow instructions from the 17 May Committee and relevant authorities. Gas, heat, deep-fat fryers and other equipment presenting a fire risk must be used safely and in accordance with applicable rules. Have suitable fire-extinguishing equipment, secure gas cylinders and keep escape routes clear.
Food sellers are responsible for good hygiene, safe storage, correct temperatures and handwashing. Short-term food sales by schools, clubs and associations may be exempt from registration; food businesses and more extensive food sales may require registration. Sellers must determine their own category and follow current guidance from Mattilsynet, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.
Mattilsynet: food safety at fairs and festivals →Keep your stall and surrounding area clean throughout the day. Dispose of waste, packaging, food scraps and used oil according to the Committee’s instructions. Do not empty anything into planted areas or drains. Remove the stall and equipment and leave the space tidy after sales.
Goods that are illegal or prohibited by the Committee may not be sold. The Committee’s stall rules prohibit, among other items, helium balloons, spray cans, airsoft guns and replica weapons, alcohol, cigarettes and e-cigarettes. If you are unsure about a product, clarify it with the Committee before purchasing a space.
Stalls must occupy their allocated position and remain within the purchased area. Keep passageways, emergency access and neighbouring spaces clear. Product images are illustrations and do not entitle you to a position other than the stall number and location directed by the Committee.
Electricity is used at Festplassen. It is also available at a few spaces at Vågsallmenningen and Torget, while basic electricity at Bryggen is considered as needed. Electricity is not guaranteed for any particular stall without specific confirmation; contact the Committee before purchasing if power is essential. Gas is used in Byparken when needed. According to the Committee, Bergen municipality’s Bymiljøetaten does not allow generators at Festplassen or in Byparken. Gas and electrical equipment must be used safely under applicable rules.
